How to Set Up Klaviyo in Trivas: Step-by-Step Integration Guide

Klaviyo tells you how your emails and texts performed. It doesn't tell you how that performance stacks up against your Meta spend, your Shopify revenue, or your actual CAC. That's the gap most brands hit around month three of using it seriously. Here's how to set up Klaviyo in Trivas so the two stop living in separate tabs.
Why Connect Klaviyo to Trivas
Klaviyo is good at what it does: campaign metrics, flow performance, deliverability, list health. But it only shows you its own slice of the business. It has no idea what your Meta ROAS looked like that same week, or whether the revenue it's crediting to a flow actually shows up in Shopify.
Connect it to Trivas and that changes. Email and SMS revenue sit next to Meta, Google, and Shopify data in one dashboard, so you're not stitching numbers together by hand.
The usual scenario: a marketing lead wants to check flow revenue against overall CAC and LTV before a budget meeting. Without an integration, that means exporting a CSV from Klaviyo, another from Shopify, maybe a third from the ad platforms, then reconciling them in a spreadsheet. With Trivas, it's one dashboard, already blended.
What You Need Before You Start
A few things to have ready before you touch any settings.
You'll need an active Klaviyo account with admin or manager-level access. That's a hard requirement, since generating a private API key isn't available to lower-permission roles.
You'll also need an active Trivas account, trial or paid, with permissions to add data integrations. If you're on a team plan and not sure who has that access, check with whoever set up your workspace.
Before you start clicking around, decide which Klaviyo metrics actually matter to you. Campaign revenue? Flow revenue? Subscriber growth? Deliverability rates? Knowing this upfront saves you from syncing everything and then hunting for the numbers you care about later.
Last thing: have your Klaviyo account ID and a target date range for historical backfill on hand. You'll be asked for both.
Step 1: Generate Your Klaviyo API Key
Start in Klaviyo. Go to Settings > API Keys and create a new private API key.
Scope it for read access to campaigns, flows, and metrics. You don't need write access for this, and giving Trivas more permission than it needs is just an unnecessary risk.
Name the key something you'll recognize later, like "Trivas Integration." Six months from now when you're auditing API keys, "Trivas Integration" is a lot more useful than "key3."
Copy the key the moment it's generated. Klaviyo only shows it once. If you close the tab before copying it, you'll have to generate a new one and start over.
Step 2: Connect Klaviyo Inside Trivas
Now switch over to Trivas. Open the integrations panel and select Klaviyo from the list of available data sources.
Paste in the private API key you just copied and confirm the connection. This part usually takes seconds, assuming the key was scoped correctly.
From there, choose which data streams to sync: campaign performance, flow performance, list growth, revenue attribution. Pick based on the metrics you flagged as priorities in the previous step.
You'll also set the historical backfill window. Trivas typically pulls 12 to 24 months of history on first sync, which is usually enough to spot seasonal patterns without dragging out the initial sync unnecessarily. For a deeper look at how this fits into the rest of your setup, the Klaviyo integration page walks through what each data stream actually includes.
Step 3: Verify the Data Sync
Don't skip verification. It's the step people rush past and then wonder why numbers look off two weeks later.
Head to the integration status page in Trivas and confirm Klaviyo shows as "connected," not "pending" or "error." Pending for more than a few minutes usually means something's still processing. Error means go back and check your API key scope.
Next, pick one campaign you know well and check its revenue number in Klaviyo directly. Compare it to what shows up in Trivas. They should match, or be close enough that any gap is explainable by attribution windows (more on that below).
Sync frequency matters here too. Most metrics refresh daily, with campaign sends updating closer to real time. The very first full sync, though, can take a few hours depending on your account size and how much history you requested. Bigger accounts, longer waits. That's normal, not a bug.
Where to Find Klaviyo Data in Your Trivas Dashboards
Once synced, Klaviyo revenue sits right in the unified performance dashboard alongside Shopify orders and ad spend. No separate tab, no separate login.
This is where the Wingman AI layer earns its keep. Instead of digging through charts, you can just ask it something like "what percent of revenue came from email flows last month" and get a straight answer.
You can also blend Klaviyo attribution with GA4 funnel data to see where email and SMS touchpoints actually sit in the customer journey, whether they're closing the sale or just nudging someone along earlier in the funnel. That distinction matters more than most people give it credit for. A flow that looks mediocre on last-click revenue might be doing real work higher up the funnel, and you'd never see that from inside Klaviyo alone.
Common Setup Issues and Fixes
Most setup problems fall into three buckets.
API key error. This almost always means the key wasn't scoped for read access on metrics and campaigns. Go back into Klaviyo, regenerate the key with the right permissions, and reconnect.
Data lag. If you're on a larger account, say 100k+ contacts, the full historical backfill can take longer than the initial estimate Trivas gives you. This isn't a failed sync, it's just a bigger job. Give it time before assuming something's broken.
Mismatched revenue numbers. If the campaign revenue in Klaviyo doesn't match what you see in Trivas, check the attribution window first. Klaviyo's default window might not line up with the window set in your Trivas reporting. Align the two and the numbers usually fall in line.
Next Steps After Setup
Klaviyo on its own only tells half the story. Once it's connected, pair it with your other channels, Shopify, Meta, Google Ads, so you get full-funnel reporting instead of a channel-by-channel patchwork.
From there, it's worth building a custom dashboard view that puts Klaviyo flow revenue directly next to paid acquisition cost. That's the view most marketing leads actually want in front of them during budget conversations.
If you hit account-specific snags along the way, the getting started guide covers general setup steps, or you can start a trial and work through it directly.
